SSP Scholarship Program Eligibility Criteria

The Karnataka SSP (State Scholarship Portal) scholarship is a government initiative to financially assist students from various categories. The eligibility criteria for the SSP scholarships vary based on the specific scholarship program, but the general criteria include:

Department of Technical Education

• The candidates should be permanent residents of Karnataka.
• The applicants must belong under the SC/ST category.
• Their annual family income should be between INR 2,50,000 and  INR 10,000,000 annually.
• Students pursuing degrees in engineering may apply to the scheme.

For Defence Scholarship

SC/ST students may apply for the fee reimbursement program for technical courses if their parents are active-duty Army or Air Force members or working as JCO/NCO/ Lower rank.

Department of Medical Education

• The candidates should be permanent residents of Karnataka.
• The applicants must belong under the SC/ST category.
• Their annual family income should be between INR 2,50,000 and  INR 10,000,000 annually.
• Students pursuing degrees in medicine may apply to the scheme.

Department of Backward Class Welfare

• The candidates should be permanent residents of Karnataka.
• The applicants must come under the government-defined category of “backward classes.”
• They should have to be admitted in class XI or above.
• The students from Category 1 should have secured at least 50% marks in the previous qualifying exam.
• Category 2A, 3A, and 3B students should have secured at least 60% marks in the last qualifying exam.

Department of tribal welfare

• The candidates should be permanent residents of Karnataka.
• Their family income should not exceed INR 2,50,000 per annum.
• They must have obtained at least 50% on the previous qualifying exam (or an equivalent grade).

Department of Minority Welfare

• The candidates should be permanent residents of Karnataka.
• They should belong to minority communities such as Christian, Muslim, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist, or Parsi.
• This SSP scholarship is open to students studying Class XI, XII, diploma, bachelor’s, master’s, technical, vocational, MPhil, or Ph.D. degrees at recognized institutions.

State Brahmin Development Board, Karnataka

• You must now select the district and taluk for your institute or college.

• You must enter all Aadhaar-related information and click the “submit button.”
• You must then enter your email address and cell phone number.
• Your mobile number will receive an OTP, which you must enter into the OTP box.
